Cardinal Gibbons alumna Michelle Cohen signed a professional basketball contract to play for Israel’s Maccabi Bnot Ashdod in the Ligat Ha'al for the 2020-2021 season.

Cohen, a graduate from the Class of 2016, was instrumental in the success of the Chiefs basketball program from 2013 through 2016. The six-foot-one forward served as team captain during her junior and senior seasons, and, as a junior, averaged a double-double—earning 10 points and 10 rebounds per game.

In her final season as a Chief, Cohen led her team to a 22-5 record, winning the district for the first time in 10 seasons and winning the regional championship to advance her team to the state Final Four in Lakeland for the first time in 16 seasons.

Over her four years as a Chief, Cohen helped the Cardinal Gibbons girls' basketball program to a cumulative team record of 62-35. She received Sun Sentinel All-County Honorable Mention honors in all four seasons played. Cohen also earned Sun Sentinel All-County Second Team honors as a junior and was named to Miami Herald’s second team as a senior.

Cohen also medaled at numerous non-FHSAA tournaments and events; her accolades include earning status as a two-time Maccabi Gold Medalist (2012, 2013); two-time Sunshine State Games Gold Medalist (2010, 2011); and two-time USSSA Florida State Champion (2010, 2014).

She graduated from Colorado State University-Pueblo in April 2020 with a degree in social work prior to signing with Maccabi Bnot Ashdod.
